The story behind this project in The Lakes

The trip happened every time the oven and the kettle ran together. The owner assumed it was the appliances. It was a board older than the family living there.

First visit: what we walked into in The Lakes

We opened the board and found circuits sharing neutrals, no RCD protection on the socket circuits, and a kitchen fed from a single overloaded radial. Several labels described rooms that no longer existed after an earlier renovation.

The promise we made the owner of this five-bedroom villa

We promised a board built to be understood — every circuit tested, labelled and recorded on a schedule the owner keeps — and no live work carried out with the family in the house.

The moment the project turned

Tracing the circuits took longer than replacing the board. Halfway through we found a buried junction box feeding the garden lighting with no isolation at all. Finding that was the real value of the job.

Craftsmanship that made the difference

Circuits were split so that a fault in the garden cannot darken the kitchen, cable routes were dressed and clipped properly inside the board, and every device was torque-checked. The EV provision was run in conduit to the parking bay so the charger can be added without opening a wall again.

We handed over a circuit schedule, test results and a labelled board, then walked the owner through isolating each area safely.
