The story behind this project in Al Furjan
Two children, one hot August, and a garden that was mostly gravel. The brief was simple — somewhere to swim before summer.
First visit: what we walked into in Al Furjan
The garden sloped away from the villa and the only drainage point sat on the wrong side of the plot. We set levels first, because a pool that fights the garden always looks like an afterthought.
The promise we made the owner of this four-bedroom villa
We promised a shell built and water-tested before a single tile was fixed, a plant room the owner could actually reach, and a deck that stays cool enough for bare feet in July.
The moment the project turned
The moment it came together was the 72-hour water test. The shell held level to the millimetre, which meant we could set the mosaic waterline course dead straight around the whole perimeter — the detail people notice without knowing why.
Craftsmanship that made the difference
Mosaic was laid from the waterline down so the joint lines stay level to the eye, and the travertine coping was bullnosed and honed on site. LED niches were set so the light washes the floor rather than glaring at swimmers.
Handover day in Al Furjan
We filled, balanced the water chemistry and walked the owner through backwashing and dosing. The children were in before we had loaded the last tools.
